Looking at our little corner of Jenner’s, it’s hard not to smile! Granted, I’m a bit biased as it’s been an all-consuming project for the past few weeks for Euan and I.
When we first discussed the opportunity for our pop-up perfumery in the iconic department store – a store that has a longer history than Liberty London – we wanted to make sure that we reflected how we feel about being a Scottish business in the 21st Century, extending further than just the perfume industry.
Edinburgh in August is a truly exciting time. This somewhat sleepy city comes alive, inflated with visitors from all over the globe and, like any host, we want to make everyone feel welcome in our city. We want to show what a warm and engaging place Edinburgh is by partnering with some of the most stimulating brands Scotland has to offer.
Walking along the aptly named Rose Street to our space you’re caught by abundance of plants with a neon halo calling you into a wee oasis. Our glow-up is thanks to Solas Neon – Scotland’s neon workshop. The super talented Emery has kindly made us some amazing custom neon especially for the space and orders can be placed in-store for your own custom glow commission.
Sharing the walls is an enchanting vine installation by the wonderful Pyrus, giving the space a feeling of growing before your eyes. They also have an installation, Sixth, which will be on display at Custom Lane from 10-16 August 2019 – be sure to head down on 9 August to watch Natalya and Fiona creating the piece on site, making living art!
Grow Urban has provided some lush plants to make the place feel like home and provide a cooling atmosphere during these uncharacteristically warm days. But if you’re looking for tonic outside of the hustle and bustle of the festival be sure to head down for coffee and a cake in their own urban garden centre.
Speaking of tonic, we’ve got delicious libations from Edinburgh’s Sweetdram and Bon Accord. Their festival serve: Escubac (not a gin) and grapefruit tonic. Yum!
There is no better way to enjoy a cold cup of goodness than by relaxing with a good read, and we have two to choose from! Boom Saloon is showcasing their entire publication library and Adam Foy – the hand of our illustration pairings for the Progressive Botany Vol. I Collection – has created some ‘zines for you to gander; all available to buy.
We’re sincerely honoured to have the opportunity to work with such fresh, engaging, independent and local Scottish brands. We hope you have the chance to pop in and check them out!
Jorum Studio and friends pop up shop will be open everyday from 26 July to 26 August 2019 (opening times may vary) at Jenners Edinburgh, EH2 2YJ.
Just look for the flowers on Rose Street!
