Perfumer’s notes:

A trip aboard our time machine wouldn't be complete without revisiting the first Psychoterratica fragrance, formerly known as Psychoterratica I.

I think the name OPALINE is perfect for this fragrance. There is a chalky-white quality, with glowing cool blue tones, muted pinks, powder yellows and milky greens.

Prepare to fall into the softest, most angelic cloudbed with endless textural swells. The initial inspiration for OPALINE was the idea of cotton and yarn being prepared and spun in a mill before being made into the softest garment. I find that OPALINE is also a great layering tool: adding texture to many different perfumes or harmonising with more neutral scented cosmetic products for those in a more minimal mood.

It is a very pure-smelling perfume; lots of musk, powder and musky powdery botanicals. However, don’t be fooled – OPALINE is strong and extremely long-lasting. I find that the fragrance spans a lot of the aromatic spectrum: it may appear one-dimensional at first, but allow it a minute or two, and the kaleidoscopic twists and turns will start to come into focus.

Made in Scotland.

Opaline Jorum Studio

First and foremost, I want to say that the name perfectly matches the essence within. It creates a feeling that it contains layers of powdery perfume trends spanning the entire period our sense of smell can reach—a deep whisper of powdery notes in all their forms. There’s a sensation of soft, dense cotton, cosmetic talc swirling upward, and iridescent, shimmering, creamy soap bubbles crystallizing into a more enduring, material form—opal with flashes of an incredible color palette inside. The fragrance’s evolution depends on external factors such as temperature, humidity, and others. And this magical transformation is simply wonderful! It mesmerizes, pulling you into a state between conscious and subconscious, as if watching the slow, even movements of mechanisms (a mobile, a kaleidoscope) or natural elements (sunlight dancing on the surface, ripples in the water).

A hypnotic, dense cloud of almond blossom, heliotrope, tonka beans, iris root combined with carrot seed and ambrette, and various light musks, presses down, taking away one’s will. It’s a time for inward immersion. The creamy, relaxing bath-like experience is provided by the waxy, soapy plumeria flowers, and a fresh, slightly aquatic, pearlescent note of lychee (presented here as one would find in baby skincare products). Bridging between worlds are the luminous, pulsing blooms of poppy, peony, jasmine, and the tart hint of pink pepper. Deeper down, a confectionary sweetness of fondant and powdered sugar, the dry scent of cedar shavings, milky sandalwood, and patchouli (resembling powder scattered over a pet’s fur) emerge. Each note appears in moderation, with none dominating.

These are highly concentrated perfumes with opalescent notes. The entire Time collection is crafted for layering enthusiasts, though it also stands beautifully on its own as a solo product. Pure Opaline deeply relaxes me (a therapeutic tool for my psyche), so I often add this magical, rainbow dust from the past to some of my other perfume favorites. A persistent, gender-neutral, and timeless fragrance suited for intriguing experiments. It’s by no means a light scent, as that feeling of a cottony cloud can easily turn into a concrete slab.

We're blessed to read your words, thank you!

An evocative hug

It's a soft scent. Mature. It brings to my mind memories of sitting in summer shade, wrapped in a Turkish towel all peach stone gold, relaxing fondly. Would be my new everyday scent if I had the money and if the fragrance wasn't a limited release... It gently lasts all day, even lingering after a light shower

Such wonderful imaegery - thank you Toby!
