Healing herbal scents to cosy up with this winter...
Herbal perfume profiles can be some of the most fascinating and complex. These medicinal plants often have strong personalities that, when worked into the perfect composition, can sing in harmony with softer notes and produce an incredibly calming perfume.
As an independent Scottish perfumer, we are always looking to the land for inspiration. We are constantly surprised at just how many healing herbs there are hiding in plain sight in fields, hedgerows and gardens.
Carduus Eau de Parfum

Carduus feels like entering an ancient herbalist's tent. At once calming and intriguing, this warm herbal tea perfume builds a complex xeric profile of leaves, seeds and barks over a foundation of aged mahogany and tobacco. Honey, chamomile and cocoa act as a balm to soothe long into the evening.
Athenaeum Eau de Parfum
Impression: Scottish Lavender, Beeswax, Fennel, Apple, Honey.
Fade: Neroli oil, Hyacinth, Flouve, Patchouli, Morocco Leather*, Gurjun Balsam, Oak, Ink.
A fresh take on an herbal lavender perfume profile, Athenaeum uses Scottish lavender oil – well known for its calming, soothing properties. Balancing this with uplifting neroli, apple and fennel, as well as the sharp depths of gurjun balsam, makes this an extremely grounding fragrance.
